Falscher Fisch is a 2 player game that might look like a simple game of chance, but hides a multitude of strategies and tactics.
The two contenders play a series of rounds, picking one of three symbols and forming them with their hands — not unlike rock-paper-scissors.
The Symbols
Water
Form a closed fist and rest it vertically on your other flat hand.
Hook
Form a fist, rest it wrist-up on your flat hand, and extend your curved index finger.
Fish
Form a curved surface with your hand and put it wrist-down on your flat hand.
How to Play
Your Hand
Each game you have:
- 2× Water
- 3× Hook
- 1× Fish
Your Goal
Play your fish first without getting caught!
Outcomes
- Fish vs Water → You win!
- Fish vs Hook → You lose!
- Fish vs Fish → Draw, new game!
- Any other combo → Nothing, next round!
The Ritual
When counting down to your move, both players rhythmically beat their fist into their flat hand, emphatically calling out:
Beat your hand with every syllable. When enchanting the magical word "Fisch", form the symbol you want to play.
